ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:
(Position involves potential exposure to blood and body fluids)
- Assist residents with personal hygiene and activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and shaving for both male and female residents.
- Provide oral care, including cleaning teeth or dentures.
- Clean and trim fingernails and toenails as directed.
- Comb hair and shampoo residents as required.
- Distribute and collect meal trays and assist residents with feeding as necessary.
- Assist residents with ambulation and safely accompany residents to and from various areas of the facility.
- Assist residents with toileting needs, including transfers to and from the bathroom, use of bedpans and urinals, and provision of incontinent care.
- Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens as ordered.
- Observe residents for changes in condition or behavior and promptly report findings to the charge nurse.
- Position residents appropriately and assist with transfers to and from bed, chair, or toilet using proper body mechanics and safety techniques.
- Assist residents with range-of-motion (ROM) exercises as instructed.
- Change bed linens at least twice weekly and more frequently as needed to maintain resident comfort and cleanliness.
- Obtain and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and respirations, as requested.
- Weigh and measure residents as required.
- Assist with post-mortem care in accordance with facility policy.
- Measure, document, and report resident intake and output accurately.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized resident environment.
- Ensure resident safety and apply safety devices or equipment as required and in accordance with policy.
- Participate in resident care planning and interdisciplinary team activities as assigned.
- Respect and protect resident privacy, dignity, and rights at all times.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of resident information in compliance with facility policy and applicable regulations.
- Attend all mandatory in-service training and continuing education programs.
- Properly use and care for equipment and supplies in accordance with training and facility guidelines.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or hazards to the supervisor or charge nurse.
This is a UNION Position with UNION benefits.
Every other weekend and holidays are mandatory.
